Pantones colour of the year 2017
Pantone have announced Greenery as their 2017 colour of the year.
Greenery is a fresh, vivid green that takes its shade from the natural world. But how can you use it in your design projects, or put it to work for your business?
Freshly limes, chillies, spring bulbs, walks in the country, tree frogs are just some of the things that Pantone’s newly announced colour of the year, Greenery, reminded us of.
What is the colour of the year?
Every year, Pantone, the global colour authority, calls together a panel to select a colour of the year. They review influences from the design world and beyond, looking to entertainment, art, popular travel destinations and even, in their own words, ‘new lifestyles and socio-economic conditions’. It’s a choice intended to capture the mood of the time – and certainly, for anyone in the design world, it’s a steer that can influence all kinds of projects, from web design, print, to a new brand identity.
But what does it mean for the rest of us? For us the colour stands for Go, Fresh, Yes, Eco and the environment. It’s a nice safe and useable colour which harmonises well with many teal shades which work both well online and in print. It could be a nice breakaway colour to use from the traditional blue of business services or to and that environmental touch to a new sub brand or service level.
Does this matter to me?
Still not sure whether Greenery means anything to you? Don’t worry, as with any trend, it’s not going to be for everyone. But if you want you want to talk through any possible applications, then please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.
